Microsoft will launch Skype app for devices powered by Windows Phone operating system. In an interview to Mobile.se, Peter Wissing, director for Windows Phone at Microsoft has confirmed this. Notably, Skype was purchased by Microsoft last year.

Presently, Tango app for Windows Phone is in the list of trusted apps available for video calling and chat. The Mango update for Windows Phone didn’t had the Skype support but presently there are several smartphones based on this platform that has front facing cameras. It is true that consumers are dependent on third party app for video chat or call, the integration of Skype to Windows Phone will be definitely a welcome move.

While talking to this Swedish website Mobile.se, Wissing noted that Windows Phone platform will have Skype as an application. This means that a downlodable separate app from Windows Marketplace will be there. Skype might be integrated when Windows Phone operating system gets more version in future.

Many users are surprised with the fact that Microsoft has still not brought their three core services – Windows Live Messenger, Facebook and Skype in its Windows Phone operating system.

Codenamed as Apollo, high hopes have begin to set on Windows 8 that might come with integrated Windows Live Messaging Service, Skype’s VoIP and video calling service and Facebook with Facebook Chat.
