LG Electronics, the South Korean based smartphone manufacturer has released Gingerbread 2.3.4 update to its Android powered Optimus Black handsets.
LG has been known for delaying to release software update for its Android powered handsets. According to scattered reports the LG Optimus Black will receive slightly outdated Gingerbread 2.3.4 update while several other device manufacturers might have migrated to Gingerbread 2.3.7.
The release of Gingerbread update for LG Optimus Black will start from Europe. Users from other region will have to wait for the update. However, the update will bring several exciting features to Optimus Black that includes better power management, better mobile gaming experience, more intuitive UI for rapid access and control as well as support for latest media format AAC, AVC, MPEG 4 and H.263.
Along with this update the Optimus Black will have active app management, shortcuts, icons, widgets, app groups, updated calendar options, camera with geo-tagging feature, improved email synchronizing and more precise camera auto-focus.
Overall the update is even though good, but in a scenario when the entire world is waiting for Google’s latest mobile OS Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich it might not bring smiles to Optimus handset owners. Though LG has promised to bring the Ice Cream Sandwich in Q3, still it will be bit late as by that time there will be faster and better phones will be available by that time.
