Lack Of Attractiveness In TV Deals This Year Before Super Bowl

Before the Super Bowl, many people look for top class TV’s, boasting big screens so they can sit together and watch the Super Bowl with their family and friends. However, with it now being post season, those consumers who are looking to get big TV’s for whatever reason it may be, if not Super Bowl, will need to step their games up.

Previously, retailers had a big variety of sets displayed for consumers to choose between. However this year, compared to the previous years, things are different. This means for consumers, finding a super saver deal will also be really difficult. According to DisplaySearch’s Paul Gagnon, shoppers will come across a lot of advertisement but the deals won’t necessarily be super stellar.

The reason for this is that TV sales in the holiday season were strong, unlike in the past years when people didn’t go out to shop as much as they did in this holiday season, leaving retailers with an abundance of unsold TV sets. Since retailers had a big stock of unsold television sets in their retail stores, when 2011 started, they slashed prices of the TV sets so that they can be sold instantly. This in turn benefitted the consumers, who made the most out of these super saver deals and got themselves big television sets at amazingly low prices.

Consumers have a psyche of purchasing television sets either during Black Friday or the NFL season and this year, Black Friday was a huge success, as retailers posted record sale number. Retailers are now choosing differently in strategies, as they are discounting those television sets that are cheaply priced and are opting to make money on the relatively newer models. However, for consumers, this means nothing but sheer bad luck as the majority wants to get newer TV models, not old ones.
