Tracy Morgan, one of the stars on “30 Rock” passed out at an awards ceremony on Sunday night. Morgan was attending the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. There were reports that Morgan appeared to be very intoxicated when he was giving his acceptance speech at the Creative Coalition Spotlight Awards. Once his speech was over, he was escorted from the building and passed out just outside. An ambulance was summoned and Morgan was transported to Park City Medical Center.
According to a spokeswoman for Park City Medical Center, though, there was no alcohol or drugs found in Morgan’s system when he arrived. A representative for Morgan said that he was overtaken from a combination of altitude and exhaustion and is receiving medical attention. She went on to say that any account of the events that said he consumed alcohol were “100% false.”
Mogan is with his fiancé at the hospital and his representative said that he grateful the care he received from the Park City Medical Center. Morgan received a kidney transplant just over two years ago and is a diabetic. He plays Tracy Jordan on the hit comedy, “30 Rock,” which is based upon his on work as a comedian. Morgan has been nominated for an Emmy in 2009 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy. He has been in several television shows, including recurring roles on “Saturday Night Live,” and he has appeared in several movies.
Morgan has been in the spotlight many times for comments he has made against Sarah Palin, gays, and handicapped individuals. He has also been arrested twice for driving while intoxicated, once in 2005 and again in 2006. He is currently sober, by his own admission, and gives the credit for that sobriety to one of his sons. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 23 years, but divorced in 2009. He and Megan Wollover have been engaged since September of last year.
