It is often surprising at how much punishment the human body can take. Dante Autullo and his fiancée Gail Glaenzer will certainly agree. She said that her soon-to-be-husband is very prone to accidents. In fact, the teasing that she gives him is that she would like for the two of them to get married before he hurts himself so much that he couldn’t walk down the aisle. As a side note, she also wanted him to look great for the wedding pictures.
Little did Glaenzer know that she was predicting the future. Autullo has just had surgery to remove a 3 ½ inch nail that was in his brain – and he didn’t even know there was anything wrong! He accidently shot it into his brain when he was working in his garage.
The really wild part of this story is that Autullo didn’t even know that he had shot the nail into his head. It was more than 36 hours later before his horrible headache and nausea sent him to the emergency room. He knew that the nail gun he was using had fired a nail, but he thought the nail went whizzing by his head. He saw a mark on his head, but he thought it was from where the nail gun scratched his head.
Xrays showed the 3 ½ inch nail in his head. Autullo was immediately taken into surgery. The nail was removed and he had to have a small piece of skull replaced with a titanium plate. He’s doing very well after the surgery and Glaenzer is very happy to still have her fiancé with her. Autullo is scheduled to be released from the hospital in another couple of days.
Now that she knows he will be okay, Glaenzer can finally joke about the incident a bit. She said that at least he’s still going to look great for the wedding pictures – but he got really close to his face.
