Untethered Jailbreak and Unlock For iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch with PwnageTool 5.0.1 ( Mac )

Pod2G along with Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team released a untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5.0.1 and we also received a new PwnageTool version.

Ever since iOS 4.3.3 Dev Team has not released a new PwnageTool version, but this new version doesn’t bring anything new in what jailbreak and unlock solutions are concerned. iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are still not compatible and PwnageTool brings the possibility of hacktivation and installing Cydia packages directly through the used custom ipsw.

PwnageTool only works on Mac OS X and it is compatible with the following devices: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G / 4G, iPad 1

Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 unlocks the following basebands:

05.12.01
05.13.04
06.15.00

Gevey 3G works with any iPhone 4 baseband smaller or equal with the 04.10.01 version.

It does not matter what bootrom or baseband your devices have, you will be able to use the custom ipsw made wth PwnageTool 5.0.1. If your terminal is not jailbroken already put it in DFU mode with redsn0w before restoring the custom ipsw made with the help of this tutorial.

Step 1:

Make sure you have iOS 5.0.1 and Pwnage Tool 5.0.1

Step 2

Mount the image with PwnageTool. connect your phone to Mac OS X and open the application

You are going to see a warning message, click OK to continue.

Step 3

Select the expert mode from the menu bar.

Select your iPhone version

Step 5

Hit continue and you will be asked to search the location of the Apple firmware on your computer. Hit browse and go to that folder.

Choose the firmware then click continue

Step 6

You will see a menu with 4 options that gives you the possibility of customizing your firmware. The General Option takes you through all the secondary options of the PwnageTool so pick General and hit the blue button to continue.

Now you are going to see the menu that allows you to select between activating the phone automatically through this ipsw or to allow the phone to update the baseband. If you don’t have the operator SIM card to activate then check the Activate the Phone option.Bsides this for iPhone 3GS users there are options like: activating multitasking, activating homescreen wallpaper and the battery use percentage.

The packages settings option gives you the possibility of selecting .deb files to be installed automatically in the restore process. CLick on the Download Packages, double click on the apps you want to download then select everything and hit the blue button.

You will see a window that shows the select apps, click the blue button.

You will now see the menu to install packages, check Cydia and hit the blue button.

The Custom Logos Settings gives you the possibility of changing the boot logos. Hit browse to choose the images from your computer and hit the blue button to continue.

Step 7

You will reach the initial page of options. To start the process click on the Build button and then on the blue button to continue.

Step 8

You will be asked to choose the location where the custom ipsw will be saved. Hit save to start the process and the process might take 10 minutes or more, depending on your computer.

You will be asked to insert user and system password which you must type in order to continue the process.

You will receive a warning message asking you if your iPhone was jailbroken before. It’s best to press No.

Step 9

After PwnageTool finishes to create the custom ipsw you will be asked to turn off your iphone. This step is required! You have to connect your iPhone to the computer in order to continue the process.

If the process is not successful you will see a message like the one below, and you have to click on YES, remove the USB cable, turn off/on your iPhone, connect it again to the USB and get ready to repeat the process.

If everything went well your jailbreak solution is now in place.

Now it’s time to unlock using ultrasn0w 1.2.4. Open Cydia on your Apple device and click the Search button.

Type the world ultrasn0w in the search field and you will see the ultrasn0w package. Click on Install and the program will be installed. Restart the phone and that’s it.
