Sony entered the motion gaming platform last year with the introduction of PlayStation Move. Since then the controller itself has not seen many quality titles. After getting my hands on Medieval Moves, I was convinced that the game looked promises. As I sat down to review it, I was a bit disappointed that the game tries to make itself look like Zelda in a lot of places. Much of my excitement went away after playing the game for a few hours.
Deadmund’s Quest is a story of a child prince known as Edmund. The price turns into a skeleton along with the entire kingdom. He must fight the evil forces and find scattered pieces of an amulet to reverse the situation. The story, dialogue and voice acting is complete awkward in the game. It’s boring and fails to keep the player interested most of the times. Those of you expecting an epic game that borrows ideas from Zelda will be disappointed. The entire journey of our prince is railed, but as you progress, you will unlock new items and weapons.
One of the best things about Deadmund’s Quest is its controls. Throughout my review, I did not come across one patch where I would struggle with the controls to respond. When you finally start playing the game, you may even forgive the on rail format the game follows. The game feels solid, you strike at enemies with the move controller and your character explores the area himself. The major drawback of the game came when it started being over excessive repetitive. Expect yourself battling hordes of enemies again and again. If there is something in the game that you did in the start, you can expect it to return back sometime later in the game. The repetitive nature of the game really kills Deadmund’s Quest.
Deadmund’s Quest becomes a really boring game especially when the developers take you out from its core gameplay. There are scenes in which you must dodge obstacles while on a rail, these kinds of events really kill the game. If you can live past its drawbacks such as repetitive sequences and badly produced quick events, the game will offer you plenty of solid fun through its core mechanics.
