Serious Sam 3: BFE
The Serious Sam series have long been known for its brutal setting, bloodshed, violence, huge weapons and cheap humor. Not too long ago, most first person shooters were built upon the same idea, which is when the developers decided they needed to bring a change into the FPS market. Hence now days we see games like Call of Duty and Battlefield 3. With Serious Sam 3: BFE, the developers hope to bring back the old style first person shooters, and Serious Sam 3: BFE kind of succeeds in bringing back some memories. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game throughout this review and I hope you will too.
One of the main reasons why I enjoyed Serious Sam 3: BFE is that many shooters now days don’t offer the kind of action this title does. Serious Sam 3: BFE is an insane encounter with big bad aliens that comes in waves, you have to forget about any tactical approach with this game because it’s meant to have you grab the guns and shoot the crap out of incoming waves of enemies.
Serious Sam 3: BFE begins with our hero taking a ride on the helicopter; he is on his way to an Egyptian place to get rid of the alien threat. As soon as you reach the contested zone, your helicopter gets hit by something and you fall off, this is when the game begins and you find yourself immediately getting attacked by a monster. With no weapons at your disposal, you need to beat this monster bare handedly. This is why I love this game, there is nothing else you need to do except just kill your enemies with whatever you can get your hands on.
Serious Sam 3: BFE features four difficulty modes, Tourist, Easy, Hard and Serious. I tried all the modes during this review and found that the difficulty pacing between the two easy and hard modes is insane. The first two modes should get you done easily, but if you are looking for a challenge that may get you extremely angry, try the serious mode. The serious mode is impossible to play; it is so tough that you need to save your game after nearly every encounter. My only advice to you is to keep picking up everything you find if you decide to play this mode.
Serious Sam 3: BFE is a great game in my opinion; it doesn’t have a world war theme and or any tactical approach to it. If you enjoy killing your opponents ruthlessly with insane weapons, Serious Sam 3: BFE is a great game for you.
