WWE All Stars was originally released eight months ago on the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360. The game was supposed to be released on Nintendo 3DS as well, but at that time, 3DS was very new to the world; hence the developers pulled the decision to release the game on 3DS back then. Eight months later, the game finally makes its way to the portable console, and unfortunately, it seems the extra time developers took in releasing the game wasn’t used entirely in its favor. THQ has not taken notice of any issues that were present in the original game, which makes WWE All Stars the same game released eight months ago. This review will focus on the design and features of the game.
The same massive issues that WWE All Stars suffered on other consoles are present in this 3DS release. The developers did not bother to include a much needed tutorial in the game, which leads new comers into total chaos and confusion. Problems like the reversal of each wrestler’s move still haunt the game. The icon that appears before you can reverse a move is still really hard to get to use to and time correctly. The A.I is still cheap, performing most of their special moves before it’s the right time.
The original WWE All Stars game was not really a bad game, but when I sat down to review it, I expected these technical issues to be resolved on this late release. But unfortunately, THQ has not addressed a single issue in this version of the game, leaving me convinced that it is just a ported version.
Fortunately enough, for those who have enjoyed WWE game’s for decades, still get to have a lot of fun using the tried and tested formula that is present in most THQ WWE games. WWE All Stars is great for fans of the wrestling platform, it not only brings the newest stars into the game, but it also mixes legends of WWE all in one package. It’s great fun to pit new faces like CM Punk against legends like Hulk Hogan. WWE All Stars hasn’t really improved on its technical issues, but if you are a fan and hasn’t played this game when it was first released, this is a great time to fetch it if you own a Nintendo 3DS.
