Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions

Thanks to Namco, we have seen some brilliant remakes of original classic games on newer consoles. The Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions package also brings us some classic titles and new titles on the 3DS. This package has raised a lot of expectations from the company when it was announced, and after finally getting my hands on it for the review; I have to break the hearts of people who expected great stuff from the package. Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions is just not good enough as a package and it breaks the tradition of Namco’s amazing remakes.

The Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions package contains six games in total. You can play the classic version of Pac-Man and Galaga, the remake versions of both games that were made available on the next generation consoles and the two entirely new versions created especially for the 3DS. The first title of these two new is the Pac-Man Tilt game. The game is basically a platformer where you can rotate your 3DS to change the orientation of the platforms in the game.

The level design and over all gameplay mechanics of Pac-Man Tilt is just not good enough to keep anyone interesting. I felt tired of the game after playing through only few hours during the review. The most annoying problem with the game is its tilt mechanics, which don’t seem to work properly.  The second new exclusive title to the package is Galaga 3D Impact. This is an on rails game that has a first person camera view. Waves of enemies fly toward you and you must make your way to the end of the level and beat the boss to progress.

The game lets you absorb your enemies which in return give you new powers to use. Unfortunately, Galaga 3D Impact doesn’t live up to the expectations too because of its outdated mechanics. One of the most annoying things about the game is that you have to play from the very start of the level if you die.

Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions is a package filled with content, and if I was to recommend the title to anyone, I would simply say that get this only if you have not played the other classic remakes of the same games. The two new exclusive versions are just not worth trying out.
