With MinoMonsters, now you can have some Pokémon styled game on your iPhone. MinoMonsters is basically borrows ideas from Monster Rancher and Pokémon styled RPGs. You play as a shipwrecked captain who has landed on an island full of both friendly and evil monsters. You will help some little charming monsters make a stand against evil ones who plan to destroy the whole island that is home to these monsters. The game takes you across four different locations full of quests. You will also help save other monsters and stop evil monsters from polluting the island. During your journey, you will also find rare gems with the help of your monster friends. This review will focus on the design and gameplay features of the game.
MinoMonsters is built on a successful formula, so most of the game works but it is a quite straightforward and simple RPG. The monsters have no stats for you to follow and each of them can only perform few moves. I discovered in the later stages of my review that the game can actually offer quite a lot of challenging tasks, and for you to easily able to complete the later levels, requires a bit of experience grinding.
One of the best things about MinoMonsters is its charming visuals. The monsters are very adorable and the animations are quite charming. Whenever you perform moves with your selected monsters, there are several different animations that take place before the attack is completed. MinoMonsters feature in app purchases. These purchases are quite unnecessary as I discovered during my review that most items on sale can actually be collected in the game. The game also has a multiplayer mode which isn’t quite interesting; it is a head to head affair with another player that ends without much reward.
MinoMonsters is charming and adorable, but it really depends on the user if he wishes to purchase it or not. If you miss Pokémon or have finished playing all games in the series, you can try this out. This is a game that offers a lot for less than a dollar purchase, I would definitely recommend it for that.
