The Jacksonville Jaguars Heading To A New Direction

Recent reports revealed that The Jacksonville Jaguars are moving towards a new direction. On Tuesday, Wayne Weaver, Jacksonville Jaguars owner, fired Jack Del Rio who was the coach of the team. The team will be sold to Shahid khan who is a well known businessman in Illinois.

Mel Tucker, the defensive coordinator of the team was announced to be the interim coach. Meanwhile, Gene Smith was granted a 3 year contract extension and is given the charge to find a new coach. Reports state that since its formation in mid 1993, this is the most noteworthy change for the franchise.

Commenting on the latest developments, Weaver said that the changes are coming on the right time and it is a step further into the future. Adding further, he said that a lot of people have high expectations and it is our duty to deliver. The team deserves better. Furthermore, Weaver said that the performance of the team has not been up to mark since a couple of years. He also said that he is taking responsibility for the team’s poor performance. However, he added that now the team is fully motivated and wants to play competitive football. The sale of the franchise is reported to be worth $760 million.

Reports state that 77 year old Weaver has been looking for a safe exit strategy since a couple of years. Furthermore, he wanted to sell the team and keep it in Jacksonville. While announcing his departure, Weaver had tears in his eyes. Weaver said that his main aim was to find someone who has enthusiasm and infatuation about the NFL.

61 year old Khan believes that he is the right man. In a statement, Khan said he will make sure that he provides his best efforts for the team. Adding further he said that he is thankful to Wayne for notifying his commitment to the Jaguars.
