Ricki Lake is Coming Back to Screens

She was always good at turning something that had the potential to be trashy into a real treasure. There are many fans who will be delighted at the news that the Ricki Lake Show is going to return to our screens in September next year. In hindsight her campaign has been done to perfection. When the Dancing with the Stars show lineup was announced we suspected that it had something to do with Ricki Lake who wanted to revive her career. There is nothing as good as a family show to repair your image. This is not to say that Ricki has been sinful. On the contrary she is one of the best behaved celebrities on the circuit about from a burnt house in a holiday location. You can always be forgiven for being a bit ditzy especially if you have the money to pay the bills. However Ricki had faded into the background. Since the 1990s her popular show had lost some of the glow that it once had. She then probably made a decision that she wanted to get a piece of the cake.

The end of Oprah Winfrey opens up opportunities

For all intents and purposes Oprah is past it. Her television network has not been able to attract as many people as she likes. In fact it was reported that a best friend was pulling out of the venture. For Ricki Lake this represents a fortunate coincidence. She can develop her brand without having to worry about the competition from someone who is already an institution in the talk show circles. There is plenty of life still left in the Ricki Lake Show as long as the people take it to heart in the same way that the protagonist has used it. There is any given number of elements that could be considered to be relevant to the cause. The Ricki Lake is one of those things that might improve with time. The fans are there and they are waiting to be entertained. Of course there are dangers in reviving something that was once very successful. Often you make the mistake of recapturing the old glories instead of building new themes.

Moreover the star will have lost quite a lot of weight as a result of her stint on DWTS. That means that she will look absolutely fabulous when presenting her new show. The Broadcasting Cable website has reported that Tribune has picked up the show on behalf of WPIX in New York. The slot that has been offered is 4pm.  Seven other stations have also commissioned the program. Ricki Lake is clearly a very popular girl with the television executives. Fox has picked up the show for its stations in Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas. Moreover the Ricki Lake Show has been picked up by Sinclair, Post Newsweek, Local TV, Granite, Fisher, Journal and New Vision. Other partners include Gray Broadcasting and Quincy. This event promises to be a great revival and it might only be topped by the appearance on DWITS where she has a chance of winning.
