In this review, I will talk about the Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition, a First Person Shooter game for the Xbox 360.
Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition is the remastered addition of Halo Combat Evolved. The game was originally released on the Xbox 10 years ago. Halo completely redefined the FPS genre with its great gameplay and story. Since then we have grown to love this game and the many installments it spawned. Halo brings back the same gameplay we love with some extra maps to play on. Unfortunately, for many this new Anniversary edition feels like an addon then a complete revisit to one of the greatest games created. To find out more, read our review.
To start my review, I will talk about the design and features of the game.
Halo completely changed the FPS genre when it was first released, with its online multiplayer, the game set new standards. Since its release, the multiplayer FPS experience has taken a new life thanks to Halo. The Anniversary edition of Halo brings some new changes to the original; first off the game can now be played in full HD. Other changes include a new co – op mode and support for Kinect voice.
Moving further down the review, aside from aforementioned changes, there really hasn’t been done to the game. The campaign and level design remains the same and the A.I and balancing issues still haunt the single player mode. The credit of bringing HD visuals to this classic game goes to 343 industries that made sure that the game doesn’t feel like a rip off. Thanks to the time and effort these guys put in, the visuals are stunning and are welcome in this next generation of gaming. This is an excellent chance for anyone who still hasn’t played this ground breaking series, now instead of getting a ten year old copy, you can get this and enjoy the complete game in its all new glory.
To finish off my review, I would say that Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition is a great effort by the development team to bring the game to the new era, however if you have already played the game, it won’t feel like a fresh new experience.
