PlayStation 3 Game Review: X-Men: Destiny

October 2, 2011 by: 0

In this review, I will talk about X-Men: Destiny, an action game for the PlayStation 3.

X-Men: Destiny is produced by a very popular video game studio, Silicon Knights. The studio has been known for its exceptionally good games that it produced on the GameCube and PlayStation. The studio went nearly dead when it released its shooter Too Human. Since then it has been producing very mediocre games, and X-Men: Destiny is nothing more than that. The game features a very boring combat system, bad mission design and very poor character choices. Unfortunately, the game won’t be remembered for too long. To find out more, read our review.

To start my review, I will talk about its features and design.

The game starts with the death of Professor X. You and your other mutant friends are attending a rally when everything goes insane and you are presented with the opportunity to use your abilities to kick some major ass. The game doesn’t put you in the feet of known mutants; instead the game lets you play with customized characters that are only available in this game. The overall story seems cheesy and cliché, you won’t find anything interesting here.

Moving further down the review, after the selection of your mutant character you will be asked to choose between three different abilities. You will be able to invest a point into abilities that are tank based, caster based or melee fighter based. The mission design of the game remains the same no matter what character you choose. The main mutants aren’t playable, but that doesn’t mean they appear in the game. You will be fighting against and with known mutants from the X-Men Universe. The available X-Men in the game are Wolverine, Cyclops, Magneto and more.

To finish my review, I would say that the game is a fairly mediocre action game. If you are a fan of the X-Men universe, you might find something to like in here. But unfortunately, those looking for an action game will be quite disappointed.
