We are talking about a smartphone that caused many talks until now, but also after the official release.
Many people expected it to be the most powerful Android smartphone. This was not the case and Google has not labeled the Nexus family smartphones as top-of-the-list. Google chose to label the Nexus smartphones as application developers, niche phones for those who always want to run the newest Android operating system version.
We have noticed that people are mostly displeased with the following:
- The Super AMOLED 4,65 inch screen is not the same class as the display that comes on the Samsung Galaxy S II which also brings the Plus particle that suggests some better specifications
- the 5 MP photo camera which, although capable of 1080p videos has a smaller sensor than the competition
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone was presented by the biggest tech blogs on the Internet and some of their opinions can be found below. Nobody has truly reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone but detailed reviews will appear in the near future and we promise to be one those who will review the Galaxy Nexus in a very pertinent way.
The Verge
“Our biggest worry is about the size of the 4,65 inch screen, but Galaxy Nexus doesn’t seem big when held. What makes is different is the profile that makes it easy to hold and used. About weight we want to say that it does not seem to be as heave as we expected and this is mostly because of the plastic that failed to impress”
Engadget
“The dual core 1,2 GHZ processor makes it’s presence felt and it feels to be faster than the Samsung Galaxy S II. This is also because of the hardware optimizations made so that Google Nexus can run Android 4.0 faster. The new Roboto font is a true sight”.
TechCrunch
“The display doesn’t seem bigger than previous smartphones although it has a size of 4,65 inch and this because of the fact that physical buttons were replaced wth touch ones.”
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone is a relevant smartphone for 2011, as well as the iPhone 4S, but we are sure that it will fail to have the same success. We do not see million of units sales, like the Galaxy S II did who still has some leverage on the Galaxy Nexus: a thinner profile, better prices, the 8 MP photo camera under the contest of a similar hardware platform: 1,2 GHZ processor and 1 GB of RAM memory. It remains to be seen how fast the Samsung Galaxy S II will make the passing to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
