In this review, I will talk about Sanyo Zio SCP-8600, an Android based phone from Kyocera.
Kyocera has finally entered the smartphone with its newest Android based set, the Sanyo Zio SCP-8600. Although the phone ships with an Android version 2.1, we still want to welcome the phone with open arms. The phone is mostly aimed at budgeted market, but it offers more than enough features for anyone. The drawbacks of the phone include its data speed being slower than average. Also its speaker phone on load volumes suffer from very distorted voice. It doesn’t offer as much as other Android phones, but its price is something that will attract a lot of people. To start my review, I will talk about the features and design of the phone.
The Kyocera Sanyo Zio SCP-8600 dangerously resembles the Zio from cricket wireless. With only few tweaks and differences, it’s hard to distinguish between the two phones. The only difference you get to see on the outer shell of the phone is its extra chrome look. The biggest addition however is its Android version, while the other devices under the Zio brand are on Android 1.6, the Sanyo Zio SCP-8600 is actually running on Android 2.1.
Moving further down the review, the Sanyo Zio SCP-8600 features a 3.5 inches touchscreen which supports a resolution of 800 x 480, paired with 262 million colors. The current resolution and screen size makes the Sanyo Zio SCP-8600’s screen one of the best ones, although it isn’t still as good as Samsung’s Super AMOLED touchscreen. Other features on the hardware include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a micro USB port for charging and transferring files and a micro SD slot which can be upgraded with 32 GB of memory. The phone ships with a 2GB micro SD card so that you can easily start storing data on it immediately.
To finish off my review, the Kyocera Sanyo Zio SCP-8600 is a welcoming change in the line of their phones, but the Android smartphone itself is lacking at many places. We believe there are tons of phones around the market which offer much more then this phone.
