Laptop Review: Acer Aspire TimelineX

October 9, 2011 by: 0

In this review, I will talk about the Aspire TimelineX 5830TG, a laptop from Acer.

The Acer Aspire TimelineX boasts a very sexy and futuristic design. With its colorful chrome finish, it almost feels like that this laptop is made from the same material a high end car is made off. The edges of the laptop are designed to be angular, giving it a very curvy look. The laptop is available in three very shocking colors of silver, blue and black. The only drawback of its outer shell is that it attracts a lot of finger smudges. But is this laptop really great from the inside too? Read on the review to find out.

To start my review, I will talk about the specifications and features of the laptop.

The 15.6 inches Acer Aspire TimelineX is hardly 2.5 KG, making it a light option for a notebook. On the top side you get a spacious keyboard and a 1.3MP camera just above the display. One of the best things about this laptop is its ability to tell you about the battery through a very special indicator on the laptop. The battery indicator changes light every time a certain amount of battery is consumed.

Moving further down the review; the Acer Aspire TimelineX ships with a second generation Core i5 processor from Intel. This Sandy Bridge Processor from Intel is clocked at 2.30 GHZ, paired with 3GB of DDR3 RAM. For storage, you get a 640GB hard disk drive preinstalled on the laptop. As for its display chip, the Acer Aspire TimelineX comes with the Inter HD3000 as its default and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT 540 mobile graphics card. The GeForce GT540M has 1 GB of memory which does help in playing games. But unfortunately, the laptop is not powerful enough to take on the most powerful high end games on maximum graphics. But the good news is that it can at least power them on mid – low graphics, so you can have some games installed on it.

To finish off my review, I would say that the Acer Aspire TimelineX is a great laptop; it comes with tons of features and adds the extra hardware for multimedia purposes. It may not be the most powerful laptop in the market, but it certainly does boast the best price for its competition.
