In this review, I will talk about Blackwater, a action game for the Xbox 360.
With Microsoft pitting every game on the Kinect controller, a similar game to Battlefield or Modern Warfare on the Kinect was something we were all expecting. Presenting Blackwater, a game that turns your room into a warzone. Blackwater is a great concept gone wrong, we love the idea of dodging grenades and owning bad people with just gestures, but Blackwater miserably fails at everything that it tries to provide, turning these ideas into really bad ones. The game works kind of like an arcade shooter. To find out more, read our review.
To start my review, I will talk about the design and features of the game.
Blackwater works exactly like the arcade shooters of nineties. Remember House Of The Dead? Virtua Cop? This game resembles them all, but instead of holding a gun in your hand, you will create gestures to fight back. These games are a bit fun to play, but without a proper story or sense of progression, this whole session becomes one repetitive boring task. Blackwater is something that goes in the lines of the last sentence I wrote. It does not bring anything new to the formula at all, which is quite a pain because this is the next generation of gaming.
Moving further down the review, each mission in Blackwater provides you with an opportunity to play with a different character. Each of these characters has a special weapon ability that you can perform. The game fails at everything else but it gives you enough variety if you decide to keep playing this torture of a game. Blackwater provides you with some of the most boring shooting sequences I have ever came across, you will be repeatedly shooting at guys popping out of windows, sewers and god knows what else.
To finish off my review, I would say that Blackwater is a pretty bad game. You shouldn’t waste your time trying out this game. If you really feel like playing like Blackwater, go to your local arcade and you will find plenty of games that are much better.
