In this review, I will talk about the PS3 game Warriors: Legends of Troy which is a game that focuses on controlling an elite group of very legendary heroes which have fought in the Trojan War which was described originally in the epic of Homer, The Iliad. Whilst having control of Greek warriors for example Achilles and the heroes of Trojan like Hector you slash and hack your way in through myriads of under-powered and power soldiers and sometimes have to face off opposing heroes. This does sound a lot like Dynasty Warriors and it should too, because the game was developed by Tecmo Koei, the people behind the Dynasty Warriors series. Although a major difference is that Warriors: Legends of Troy was developed by Koei Canada as opposed to the Japanese branch which developed Dynasty Warriors.

To start my review, I will talk about firstly how refreshing it was to really play completely different settings after so many of the Dynasty Warriors gaming series. The before-level narration of this game is absolutely excellently written and the epic story has much more of a direction and is much more entertaining than anything other than has been developed by Tecmo Koei. In battle different objectives are given to the player depending on each individual chapter.

Moving further down the review, an overwhelming majority of the objectives just involves killing hoards of soldiers. Every hero has been given a focus attack, quick attack and stun attack along with a shield and a roll of evasion. The moves are pretty slick, if you ask me. There is also more variation in controls as opposed to previously developed titles by the developers which makes the game even more satisfying and rewarding. Time and of course skill are of utmost importance in the game and these systems by themselves were enough immersion for me, however there are more things which are rewarding as well. Drop weapon throws means instant kills in most cases, for example. Counter attack mechanism is also highly rewarding.

To finish off my review, I will say that this game is an excellent addition to the whole hack ‘n’ slash genre of gaming. This surely can be a very fun game if you enjoy the genre and are into RPG’s.
