In this review, I will talk about 4 Elements HD, a downloadable game for the PlayStation 3.
In recent years we saw PopCap Games’ Bejeweled setting up a craze for puzzle games which required the players to match 3 gems of the same color in a line. Since then, many other developers have jumped into this puzzle genre and have started releasing clones of the game. 4 Elements HD can also be considered a clone of PopCap’s Bejeweled. It was originally released on the PC, but the game quickly made its way to Apple’s Appstore and now it is also available on the PlayStation 3. To find out more, read our review.
To start my review, I will talk about the features and design of the game.
4 Elements HD is produced by Boolat Games. On the PlayStation 3, the visuals have been upgraded to better suit High Definition gaming. 4 Elements HD does not introduce anything ground breaking in the industry, but it’s extremely clever game design and casual experience makes it a really addicting and fun game to play. The concept of the game is simple; you must match same colored gems in order to allow a safe path for water to flow downstream to a dead tree. Once you create a path towards the bottom of the table, where the tree lies, your level is completed and you move to the next one.
Moving further down the review, 4 Elements HD provides an interesting new feature. There are some objects within the table stuck between the gems that can only be destroyed if you match the same colored gems adjacent to them. The further you are in the game, the harder it becomes for you to figure out different combinations. Scores are calculated on your ability to quickly find the path for the water, the quicker you are, the greater the points you get.
To finish off my review, I will say that if you are looking for a great looking and fun to play puzzle game, 4 Elements HD is a great game to pick up and play.
