The newest portable gaming console from Sony, the PlayStation Vita, will arrive in European and United States stores only at the beginning of 2012, which means that it will miss the Holiday season, the Sony Vice President announced on Thursday, Mr. Kazuo Hirai.
“For the moment we estimate that we are going to release the Playstation Vita by the end of 2011 in Japan, and at the beginning of next year it will be released on the European and United States markets” Kazuo Hirai said, considered by analysts as the most likely successor of the current Sony CEO, Howard Stringer.
Furthermore, Kazuo Hirai said that he is not at all preoccupied with the decision made by Nintendo regarding the 40% reduction of the Nintendo 3DS console price because of the weak sales, saying that Vita contains a series of interesting features for buyers.
The Playstation Vita comes with a multi-touch OLED screen at a size of 5 inch, two photo cameras, touch pad on the back of the console and 3D technology. The price for the Wi-Fi model is 249 dollars while the 3G model will cost 299 dollars.
