.NGO Domain Name Coming Soon

The time is not far when nongovernmental organizations will have .NGO attached to their web addresses rather than .ORG. This initiative will be taken by The Public Interest Registry (PIR), which recently disclosed its intention of introducing the new and perfectly suitable domain name. In less than a year, standardized generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) will be brought to the market all around the world. Many non-profit organizations are currently running their websites with .COM, .NET or .ORG domains but with the launch of gTLDs, they will have the opportunity to pick the name that suits their type of group perfectly. With the application of .NGO, the organization will have its identity and missions recognized in an instance.

.ORG has served a particular class of organizations for more than twenty five years now. It has made sure in its over two decades tenure that the internet stays a steady, secure and strong platform for every member using it. This domain was managed by non-profit institute, PIR, who will naturally be taking up and controlling the .NGO domain as well. At least nine million or more users are using .ORG at the moment and an even higher number of firms are expected to register for the upcoming domain. The main reason for the increasing subscription is pretty obvious as organizations will not face any identification problems plus the core values and aims of the entity will be known by users right away.

According to web rooters, .NGO will not only strengthen but also open new doors for the NGOs worldwide. The registry’s CEO, Brian Cute, thinks that NGOs themselves have a strong identification with that acronym. He further tells that there are a lot of NGOs, grassroots NGOs, who are not online and the registry does not intend to garner a second registration fee on top of .ORG. This statement means that the online world wants the third world countries to join the web through this step. Moreover, the addition of .NGO to the domain name family is not at all a trick to raise more funds.
