In this review, I will discuss Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunt for PlayStation 3. Before I start off my review, let me tell you that this is another game based on license from its original movie, which ofcourse it also means that the game is pretty much mediocre. As soon as I picked up the game, I was expecting nothing more than a rushed game with broken story and characters and this is exactly what I got, however the game does have some features that makes it a little worth playing. Find out more down below the review!
Let’s start the review by getting to know what Green Lantern offers. The game is based on the same universe and story that you will see in the movie; however the story is more like a side story from the film universe. During my review I found out that all the levels play the same, however you get to choose how to play it from two different ways. You can either finish of the level on foot, or you can fly off and shoot your enemies using your ring.
As far as the gameplay goes, on foot, you can easily see the game is being inspired by God of War. The camera doesn’t follow you; instead it is set on a single point in a sequence. You can unleash moves on your enemies, grab them or finish them off with special powers from your ring. When playing through in the air, the gameplay is pretty simple; you fly and shoot anything in your way. The first few hours of the game will probably entertain you a lot, but soon enough the game becomes nothing more than a complete disappointment, as it becomes repetitive.
To finish off my review, I would say that Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunt is good at what it does, but lacks a lot of polishing just like any other movie tie ins. If you love the Green Lantern universe, you should probably get this game.
