PlayStation 3 Game Review: Fallout: New Vegas – Old World Blues DLC

In this review, we will discuss the latest Downloadable Content for Fallout: New Vegas. The Old World Blues DLC has you getting started in the lab crater Big Mountain. The DLC also has you changed and given you new outlook, which helps you stay away from being crippled in your current form.

Your current state comes as result of scientific experiments and those who have done these experiments are in even worse shape than yourself.  Because you are in a good state, the doctors around you ask you to obtain certain technology that has been scattered throughout the Big Mountain region.

During our review we faced many creatures in the region that weren’t happy to see us trying to find lost equipment. You will be fighting scorpions equipped with lasers, lobotomites, groups of robo dogs and skeleton spacemen like creatures.  These creatures are fierce, during the review play out, I found my armor being broken quite often, but thankfully, there were enough heal spots to heal me before I die.

It’s easy to see where the strength of this DLC lays, its dialogue. Throughout my review play time I found the character interactions the most entertaining part of the game. They not only offer emotional dialogues, but you will also be occasionally laughing at them. I particularly enjoyed the five brains that inhabit the Think Tank. But these five aren’t the only one you will talk to in game, throughout the review, other characters like the sink, which is where you get your stuff from, also has a great personality.

In this DLC, the level cap for your character has been increased to 5 more levels. There aren’t really any game play changes from the original game. The characters in the game will often give you quite a lot of quests to keep you busy.

To finish up the review, I’d say that if the above mentioned additions did not appeal to you, then you do not need to get this game. Keep in mind though, whatever you decide in Old World Blues DLC, it will impact your ending, which means there is enough re playability.
