Medicare And Social Security Amendments Might Affect Every Class Of American Nation

As the American nation has become a victim of grave economic problems like unemployment, debt limit and rising oil and fuel prices, President Barack Obama has called for a meeting with all congress members on July 10th. The Democrats and Republicans will be sitting together to chalk out a plan in order to put United States back on the track of recovery. Democrats on one side will be protecting Medicare and Social Security, whereas Republicans will be defending tax deductions.  An increase in the taxes would make employee and his family worse off for he will also be facing restrictions in their tax free health insurance.

The main aim of this meeting in The White House is to reach a common ground with all congressional members to reduce the budget deficit being faced by the government. The current scenario tells that no sound decision have been taken, as expected earlier by Boehner, for both sides of the House have their very own stances about benefit programs’ reductions.  Many proposals for Medicare have been brought in the spotlight by Barack Obama, congressional advisors and economists and even Obama’s debt commission. One of the ideas is to charge greater premiums from retirees who had a higher pay scale. Another proposal says that premium plans’ and copayments’ figures should be revised in a way that everybody is influenced except the poor. Another suggestion is to amend cost sharing rules that are being followed at the moment, which is a combination of changeable copayments plus deductibles.

According to Robert Reischauer, who serves as an economist and oversees Medicare and Social Security funds, a $4 trillion budget package which does not include considerable measures affecting beneficiaries is very hard to picture. A major chunk of $500 billion has already been removed from the payments to health care providers, which might result in fewer choices available or greater responsibility on every individual. David Certner is more concerned about a deal that would encompass reductions in the Social Security Benefits and increasing expenses in Medicare for the general public.
