Google Introduces Two Steps Verification For Gmail

Google, the company who owns the most popular search engine in the world, announces a new level of security for accessing a Gmail email account. The new security involves a two steps verification process – username and password and a code received on a mobile phone.

Google decided to implement this new security measure to protect the users of the Gmail service by hackers. If hackers find out or they steal a password, they are not going to be able to log in to a Gmail account because they do not also have access to the user’s mobile phone. The option is available for users all over the world.

After the option has been activated and you type in your password you are going to see an extra page that asks you for an additional code. Google will provide the code through a text message, through an automated vocal message or through the Google Authenticator mobile application for Android, Blackberry, iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. There is also the option to enter this phone code once every 30 days, which can be used by people who do not want to insert it each time they access their Gmail accounts.

The option can be accessed from the account’s settings page. For mobile phones and applications that are unable to request a verification code  users will be able to set a special password for each of these devices. IN this case, the password is inserted only one for each device or application.
