Microsoft has restricted developers of applications for their mobile platform Windows Phone 7 to 20 apps a day. This means that certification for new apps developed by any developer will only allow them to post 20 apps in 1 day. The move by Microsoft will ensure that only high quality apps are available in the market place. Microsoft is constantly trying to balance out their phone 7 marketplace, allowing the customers to experience only the best possible apps, by filtering out the ones that are rushed into the market.
Applications development has really become common for developing companies now days. The developers are creating apps rapidly. Microsoft saw 100s of apps submitted by a single developer in only a week. Though it fills the marketplace with choice, it also puts the customer experience at risk.
Microsoft recently took action against these apps developers by removing some of their rushed apps which had significant performance issues. The software company removed the apps and sent out notices to the company to complete development on the apps. As Microsoft grows closer to releasing the new update titled Mango for their platform, they are becoming stricter and stricter towards quality.
Microsoft is also removing a number of apps that are duplicates of other apps already in the market. Microsoft believes that a lot of small scale developers will benefit from their move because a lot of big developers keep putting up new apps in the market, making it impossible for small developers to not get lost with their app in the market. Microsoft is not bulking up its app market like rival Google and Apple, which will allow it to retain a certain level of quality. A blogger on the internet believes that Microsoft is preventing developers from posting too many apps a day because it shaping up its market place for their new release. When Mango is released, it is expected that Microsoft may get even stricter with their preventions of applications in the market.
