With rumors flying around and fake images appearing online, iPhone 5 has become the next center for everyone to spark rumors. Like many, renowned French designer, Antonie Breiux believes that the iPhone 5 will have a curvy look, a bigger and brighter screen, and a more powerful processor to support heavy applications. Many reporters online are now coming up with iPhone jokes. A blogger recently called an iPhone to act like a Tricorder, given that there are now apps being developed which can help you check your blood pressure on the go. This has officially made iPhone capable of doing everything, just like the Tricorder.

Now for those who don’t know what a Tricorder is, allow us to explain. A Tricorder is a fictional device from the Star Trek franchise. The Tricorder allows its users to do absolutely everything they wish to do with it. The device comes with three scanning functions, metrological, biological and geological. The Tricorder effectively filled up the needs of the crew members who went up in space to investigate alien planets, just like NASA is sending iPhone’s in the space these days. Most of the Tricorder devices also had a fully functional multi touch screen and scanning features. And guess what, according to Steve Jobs, CEO of the Smartphone giant Apple, the iPhone will already be capable of doing such feats with the help of different apps, when it hits the market later this year.

So here is a little breakdown of functions of the Tricorder that can be performed with the iPhone as well. Biological – The new app that lets you check your blood pressure can be categorized as a biological app. Geological – Extremely easy to determine. Every smartphone has always had the capabilities of a GPS system, which allows it to send and receive navigational data. Metrological – Several apps are available that let you determine the weather in your local area, again using your GPS functionality. So there you go, now you can proudly say you too own a Tricorder.
