BlackBerry 7 To Introduce Java SDK

With BlackBerry 7, Research In Motion is handing out its Java Developers Kit to anyone who would like to develop for the platform. BlackBerry 7 promises to deliver richer graphics and multimedia capabilities. And with the new Java SDK, developers can take advantage of all these features and come up with better applications for the platform.

The Java SDK promises to allow better integration both contextually and graphically. Together it will help developers to set out a rich mobile application experience to its users. The new features of the Java SDK include augmented reality and Open GL 2.0 support. BlackBerry will let developers combine these 2 features with the BBM social platform to deliver creative peer to peer application experience. BlackBerry ensures developers that with the new Java SDK, they will be easily able to develop apps that are both socially engaging and graphically enhanced. The new integration of Near Field Communication (NFC) will help developers to develop next generation payment solutions.

With the new Java SDK, BlackBerry is determined to provide:

Better and updated graphics: With BlackBerry 7 OS support for its devices, developers can incorporate beautiful graphics for video games using the Open GL ES 2.0 support.

Rich Multimedia experience: The platform will offer much better enhancements using newer APIs. The new SDK includes features like Native Window API, HD video recording, Audio buffering API, adjustable bitrate, OpenVG API enhancements and UDP Multicast API.

Better Device Integration: With new APIs, BlackBerry will allow developers to enhance their apps to properly integrate with the OS. These APIs include Magnetometer (compass), Send Menu API, Geofencing APIs, Maps APIs, Travel Time API enhancements and Unified Search Enhancements.

Near Field Communication (NFC): With the new NFC chips in BlackBerry 7, developers will be able to take advantage of the chips to develop innovative new applications designed to enhance the e – commerce experience. These chips are the same ones that are being equipped in the new Android devices. Google is already set to launch its ‘Google Wallet’ and ‘Google Offers’ using the same technology.

Better Enterprise support: With BlackBerry 7, enhanced version of the BlackBerry Balance technology will be available. This will allow users to experience the use of phone from both in and outside their enterprises.
