CEO, Reed Hastings, recently announced that Netflix may be getting into acquiring TV shows, which have been canceled. This will allow the customers to keep watching their favorite shows, which have ended, on other networks. Netflix’s first target is ‘The Event’, a show that NBC recently canceled. The Event is quite similar to ‘Lost’ in genre. NBC expected the show to be a hit amongst the viewers, but it did not live up to their expectations.
The show was canceled in advance by Comcast Broadcast Network, before its presentation on this Monday, where Comcast, plans to throw new ideas to their advertisers. Deadline.com expects the show to find a new network after its termination on NBC. The rumors of Netflix’s name has been thrown out all over the internet for a potential new home of the show.
Steve Sawsey, a spokesperson for Netflix, has refused to comment on the current issue. However, many analysts believe that the acquisition of ‘The Event’ is possible, but will almost not likely going to happen. Many analysts headlined few reasons, for which they believe ‘The Event’ might not be acquired by Netflix, or any other network.
Analysts believe it’s not common for a show to find a new home on another networks. But the ones, which usually do, are the ones who have been going on for years. In this case, The Event has only completed a single season. Netflix may not acquire the show because it has already failed to capture enough viewers on the most popular TV network, NBC. Though, some analysts believe it is hard to justify whether the company will allow the show in because of the fact that they do not have access to its previous season. If they did, then they could easily judge, whether there is interest from viewers or not.

Bring ‘The Event’ (season 2) back through Netflix! There is so much crap that exists on Netflix now, so get rid of the crap, and make room for something that is quality.
