Facebook Users Cross 25 Million Mark in India

Social networking site Facebook said its users has crossed 25 million mark in India. Vice President of Advertising and Global operations of FaceBook David Fischer said on Thursday.

In recent past of India, Facebook has emerged as a popular site where users interact with each other publicly, while leaving behind other social networking sites like Orkut & Twitter. The popular social networking site also added, “ We are also looking forward to building strong relationship with India’s strong network of developers and entrepreneurs who are increasingly harnessing Facebook to create unique sharing experiences on the social web.”

In the 25 million and ever growing Facebook users in India range from different category like business people, important public figures, students and institutions. The famous Indian Facebook members include Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, institutions like Delhi Traffic Police and famous Bollywood star and perfectionist Aamir Khan.

From January 2011, Municipal Corporation of Delhi also joined Facebook to allow users to post their infrastructure related problems that requires immediate attention like garbage cleaning and sanitation.

India has over 100 million users although this figure is hardly 10% of the total Indian population of 1.21 billion. This number puts India at the number three position in the list of world’s largest internet users.
