Happy day for Apple fans! Apple has released new iPod models and a new Apple TV, about which we are going to talk in another post, in a few days. The last refresh of the iPod players line took place in September 2009. Apple now brings more interesting iPods, and the prices remain almost the same.
iPod Shuffle
The smallest of the family is still the iPod Shuffle. Which now is even smaller than the second shuffle generation. Practically we are talking about a metallic square which has the classic buttons of the shuffle. The new shuffle knows how to do VoiceOver and Playlists. The storage capacity is 2 GB and the price is $50. Five colors are available: gray, orange, pink, green and blue. The battery autonomy can provide you with up to 15 hours of music.
iPod Nano
Probably the most improved model is the iPod Nano. The new version is a bit bigger than a Schuffle but everything is a multi-touch screen. It has a clip, just like the Schuffle and two buttons to control the volume. Other than that, it knows how to do VoiceOver, FM Radio, Nike+ and pedometer, it counts your steps and lost calories. It’s like it’s made to keep you in shape!
Even if the battery has a better autonomy than the iPod Schuffle, providing you with 24 hours of non stop music, the new Nano model can’t play video files. Anyway, it’s 46% smaller and 42% lighter than the previous model. Unfortunately, I don’t think that the screen supports shocks so well, but at least it looks very good.
It will also be available in five colors and with 8 GB and 16 GB storage options. The prices will be $150 and $180 for the 16 GB model.
iPod Touch
If the iPod Classic has remained unchanged, we can’t say the same thing about the Touch model. Even if the differences are not so big regarding the design, the new iPod Touch has retina display and a two video cameras, one in the front and one in the back. The frontal camera knows VGA and the back camera can be used for HD 720p video recording.
The processor of the new iPod Touch is Apple A4. It will be available for sale in 8 GB storage version – $230, 32 GB – $300, and 64 GB – $400. The battery can last up to 40 hours. Other than that, the equipments remain the same. Obviously, the iPod Touch runs on iOS 4.
