Based on the latest statistics the number of computer threats nearly doubled compared to 2009, and the daily threats have reached an alarming number, 9000. The BitDefender company developed a suit with new features and optimizations, to help PC users.
Practically, we are talking about three distinct applications, but which all have in common the malware protection module : BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 ( a base application with real time protection ), Bitdefener Internet Security 2011 ( The standard antivirus software plus the AntiSpam, Firewall and Parental control features ) and BitDefender Total Security 2011 , a complete solution that includes encryption features, backup and system optimization.
Unlike the suit released last year, Bitdefender 2011 brings algorithm improvements of the detection modules, increase in performance by optimizing the resources consumption , new security features, an interface that can be personalized completely with shortcuts to frequent actions, and features configuration, and not least, a very up to date and improved technical support, with demo videos and advice to help you not to become a victim of hackers.
BitDefender 2011 is developed for three main users categories: advanced, users with medium knowledge and beginners. Based on the category you opt for, interface and the application behavior will adapt in order to satisfy your needs. For example, if you opt for the novice interface, the antivirus will take all the decisions automatically, without bothering you with questions and warnings. The intermediary option offers a pretty detailed control over the behavior of the application, and the advanced one gives you access to all the options, including the expert ones.
Basically, although the “novice” option is dedicated to beginners, it is very well built and we also be used by advanced users without any problems, users that do not want to be disturbed by warning messages and so forth.
Especially for beginners, BitDefender included a search feature with the help of which they can access a database with videos, details and advice to fix specific problems. Currently, there are 30 video tutorials to help you avoid or to fix problems generated by malware programs.
On the security side, BitDefender brags itself with the QuickScan mode – cloud scanning, that requires an Internet connection. The details regarding the critical processes and services from your computer are sent to a server, and they are analyzed. After you will receive a report with solutions to your problems.
Also regarding security, we have to notice an improved firewall and an anti-spam module that, according to vBulletin, it has the best detection rate on the market.
The Parental Control mode offers, unlike the previous version, the remote administration option.
Bitdefender 2010 license owners will be able to upgrade to the 2011 version without additional costs, all through a simple upgrade process.
