Google and CIA have both invested 10 million dollars each in a company dedicated to monitor the internet in real time. The technology is going to be used for predicting the future. The company is named ” Recorded Future “and it will monitor dozens of web sites, blogs, social network accounts and so on, to find out the relationships and connections between people, organizations, actions and incidents.
According to the owner of the company, Christopher Ahlberg, former ranger in the Swedish Army and licensed in computers, ” it’s possible to guess the future sometimes using all these elements” he said to Wired magazine.
By using the predictive analysis created by IBM, “Recorded Future” will focus mainly on the profiles of companies and in finances, but also on terrorism acts. In the US and England, the police is already using this method to decide how many forces to send to different incidents.
Still, this is not a common investment, but a common one. Google and CIA have worked together in the past, at Mountain View, and provided information to the US intelligence services, the most recent case being the episode of the internet attacks originating from China.
