Blackberry might be banned in India and Indonesia

Millions of Blackberry users are in danger of not being able to use their smartphones. The reason? The data transmitted are encrypted so many Governments are saying that national security is compromised. Many Arabic countries have already taken the decision to deny access to email and internet from Blackberry phones, and the European Committee wants to give other smart phones to their employees.

The authorities from Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates are saying that they have no control over the communication, and nation security may be endangered. And this is happening because the data transmissions cannot be monitored. Normally, a phone accesses information through a local mobile services provider. But, in the case of Blackberry, the data are transmitted through their own network. After the United Arab Emirates, India and Indonesia might also decide to ban the use of these phones.

In Europe, limiting the internet access from Blackberry phone is not an issue. But times are changing on the old continent as well. The European Committee decided to equip their employees with iPhone and HTC smartphones.

World wide, Nokia is the leader on smartphones market with 40% market share. It is followed by Research in Motion ( RIM ), manufacturer of Blackberry with 19% and Apple with only 14%.
